The long version:
We met in 8th grade and started making jewelry together in high school. We officially launched this business in June of 2000, right as we graduated from college. We each earned degrees entirely unrelated to jewelry or art, and we never really expected to still be at it so many years later.
We love the beautiful chaos of art fairs—anything can happen out here, and we've seen some truly crazy stuff! We thrive on the constant travel, the unpredictable weather, the incredible people, and the ever-changing locations. It's a demanding life, but a deeply rewarding one.
The name Oreb Lram is a piece of accidental poetry. In 1999, in a rush to print our very first business cards, we found inspiration in an unexpected place: a roadside Marlboro billboard. Spelled backward and slightly tweaked for aesthetic flow, it became the first name we instantly agreed on. We never expected it to spark so much curiosity, but we liked its unique sound and abstract nature. That happened to be the final year cigarette billboards were allowed, so who knows what our name would have been if we hadn't driven past it just before the federal billboard ban took effect.
The second half of our name, Fine Casual Jewelry, is where our true purpose lies. We believe that exceptional craftsmanship belongs in your everyday life. Decades ago, we recognized that personal style was shifting toward comfort and ease, and the modern casual era completely sealed the deal. Our goal has always been to create high-quality jewelry meant to be lived in daily, rather than pieces that sit hidden in a box waiting for a rare, special occasion.
Now you know.
